We hear all the time that it is tough to get into care quickly at the VA. Personally, I worked at the VA in Charleston for 3 years during my training and I loved working with veterans, and loved having a system built to serve our vets. Growing up near Jacksonville and now living in Hampstead, I feel like I have been near the military most of my life.
The very first insurance we applied to accept at Hampstead Internal Medicine was VA community care. This is because we really want to be available for vets and we like taking care of veterans. We are now in network with the VA and we can see you (with VA approval) just like you are at the VA. Working with the VA requires a few more regulatory hoops and a little special knowledge in how to refer out and where to order meds, but it is nice since most of our vets get services and meds included, often at no or minimum extra charge.
If you're a vet in the Hampstead/Jacksonville/Wilmington area and you are looking for a primary care office or waiting for an appt, contact your referral coordinator and ask them to set you up at Hampstead Internal Medicine. We can usually see you within a week once we hear from the VA. Or, you can call us at 910 230 5661 and we can work on getting you a referral.
